On December 16th, 2015, Intertek released an industry announcement introducing the ETL Mark as a certification mark for building products. While this is applicable for some products, fire doors, solid-fuel hearth products, and manufactured houses will continue to use the Warnock Hersey Certification. The ETL Mark introduction does not directly affect our customers in these industries and therefore no action or changes are required on your part.
Intertek recognizes the Warnock Hersey Mark’s unsurpassed recognition in the fire door, solid-fuel hearth, and manufactured housing industries—in the eyes of Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), buyers, retailers and distributors—and will continue to fully support and promote the Warnock Hersey Mark to these industries and their stakeholders. The mark is a part of our storied history and will continue to be a part of our future success.
The partial transition to the ETL Mark in the building products industry will have a positive effect on the fire door, solid-fuel hearth, and manufactured housing markets. The addition of the ETL Mark to the Warnock Hersey Mark in 2012 introduced the industry to the ETL Mark, and since then, we have received overwhelmingly positive feedback. The introduction of the standalone ETL Mark into the market will continue to promote and familiarize stakeholders with the mark.
