Thank you to our CANASA Volunteers

We would like to take a moment to celebrate National Volunteer Week (April 10–16) by reflecting on the contributions and dedication of our many CANASA volunteers – including members of our national board, regional councils, committees and sub-committees. Thank you for all that you do to advance the security industry in Canada. See what our volunteers have been up to.

Reminder! 2015/2016 CANASA Award Nominations
Application deadline: May 2, 2016

Know someone that deserves an award? Nominate them today! It is time to reflect on your successes as a CANASA member and on the people who volunteer with you that make CANASA shine. Let’s take the time now as a CANASA member, National Board Director, Regional Council or Committee volunteer, manager, supervisor or as a peer and recognize someone’s positive and professional contributions to our organization and our industry. We challenge you to select an individual and nominate them for a Canadian Security Association Award.

Introducing the Monitoring Station Reference Guide
CANASA is working to enhance professional standards as they relate to the industry. The Monitoring Station Reference Guide has been developed with the same goal in mind; to enhance the performance of security related companies by unifying the processes and procedures they follow, and improving the professionalism of the industry as a whole. The monitoring guide is only available in English at this time, however a French version will be made available in the coming months. Download Monitoring Station Reference Guide.

The power of the inspectors and investigators of the Bureau de la sécurité privée (BSP)
The BSP has the legal power to execute the Private Security Act and its regulations. At times, the BSP may require specific information about a client from a monitoring station manager. The monitoring station must, under the present Act, respond to the BSP’s request and cannot be held responsible for a confidentiality breach since the monitoring station must comply with the law.
